Commercial Builder Limited
At Alcon Building Group, we currently hold a Commercial Builder Limited (CBL) licence which allows us to operate in Victoria and construct properties up to three storeys. This licence allows us to build a large volume of commercial properties and residential premises which are also covered by our Domestic Builder Unlimited (DBU) licence.
We are approved to complete low rise commercial work – as stated by the Victorian Building Authority, low rise is described as falling within the BCA classes: Class 1 and 10. Classes 2 to 9 with a gross floor area not exceeding 2000 square metres, not including Type A or Type B construction.

Approved Commercial Development Classes
No matter the commercial building application, Alcon Building Group can help complete any commercial building project as long as it falls within the following classes. Although all buildings are unique and have their own particular construction challenges, we use the same processes and quality standard to complete your work, whether it be a residence, office, warehouse or retail environment.

Class 1
Domestic and Residential Buildings
- Single dwelling or one of a group of attached dwellings
- Boarding house, guest house, or hostel - with a floor area of less than 300m2
- Terrace houses, row houses or townhouses.
Class 2
Domestic apartment buildings
- Containing two or more sole occupancy units
- Single storey attached dwellings with a common space below, such as a carpark
Class 3
Residential buildings other than Class 1 or Class 2, providing long term accommodation for unrelated persons.
